Today is May the first. As this is an oil company, we have been directed to dress down for the day, in case of a wave of anarchist protestors showing up to destroy our livelihoods and send house prices down. Never mind that Knightsbridge is at THE OTHER END OF INNER LONDON from the City. I am wearing the same sort of thing I used to wear at Ericsson, including large boots for percussive ~~user~~ server maintenance. Our finance controller is dressing down I think by wearing a darker shirt and tie than normal.

Out last night with arkady to dinner and a show. Diner was Wetherspoons "nachos with chili con carne" at the White Swan in Islington, which bore a slight resemblance to dishes of that name I've eaten in the past. Much of Skelliga showed up and colonised our table too - as we were teh l33t groupies. The show was, of course, Skelliga at the Buffalo Bar. A London Rock'n'Roll Toilet with lots of smoke and no beer on tap. Hello to alixandrea, darkgoblin, rataxis, kitty_goth, erzibet, excy, thamshere, dathedi (blonde++) wechsler and, ah, whoever I missed listing. Skelliga were damn fine. And alixandrea is both an amazing singer and unspeakably gorgeous on stage. arkady had her camera and we got shots.

This morning I plugged in the hub, strung the twelve-metre cable from the spare room to the bedroom and put redcountess's recovered hard drive on the intranet using kpf. Some time I shall set up Samba properly.

Tonight we will likely be at the Purple Turtle, with dinner in there somewhere. Tomorrow will probably be a Quiet Night In. Saturday is sushidog's housewarming in M.lt.n K.yn.s. Sunday is X-Men 2 as coordinated by incy.

Life has its dodgy bits, but has so many aspects that are amazingly good right now.

Update, 5:15pm: Liz is not coming to Purtle now, owing to illness. I will be stopping in for a short while around sixish, then leaving to nurse loved one.
