redcountess and I met Ingvar at Canary Wharf this evening to go shopping for a wedding knife block. Found just the thing. No courgette is safe!

We also spent duster340 and princesssulky's wedding gift certificates on a Freeview box. (I presume you both approve.) Liz has just set it up and is in Couch Potato Heaven at 16:9. ph3ar. Now playing: John Peel.

Pah, freeview isn't a patch on what it used to be when you could subscribe to OnDigital and get the Sky channels (movies and The Simpsons!!!) through your arial.... and my Freeview box stopped working when we moved to the middle of nowhere :(

Still... I spose it is Freeview now... its just annoying knowing what it WAS capable of before poor encryption meant the pirates took over and OnDigital (followed by ITV Digital) went bust :/

I still have the letter (and stickers!) that was sent to subscribers saying "OnDigital is now ITV Digital... to upgrade your reciever, simply place the enclosed stickers over the OnDigital logo on the front of your set-top box and remote".... LOL!

I was writing in British instead of Australian. (The offending footwear are definitely flipflops in London, even if they're thongs in Australia.)

Yes, I heartily approve. I'm a cantankerous five channel luddite myself, purely on the grounds I refuse to give Rupert Murdoch and money whatsoever. Oh, that and Sky is utter pooh.

I'm assuming the uber Waitrose didn't have any ridiculously over-priced, foaming and willfully obscure brews to your liking, then? :P

I know BSkyB are part of the Freeview consortium, but do they actually get royalties on each box?

Spending the certificates on anything else was not going to happen, after having bought and then unbought the same model of box just a few days before!
