Quality is inversely proportional to sticker price.
It's obviously ridiculous to expect proprietary software costing hundreds or even
thousands of dollars per seat per year to be written to a better standard than five-dollar shareware circa
1990.
And I didn't even mention that most or all of our software is written to this sort of ... standard ... or raise the question of what the fuck we're supposed to do with the shiny new $3000 video cards. (Which are $1000 video cards rebranded for Sun and with the drivers recompiled for SPARC, and are otherwise standard Nvidia or ATI issue.)
Oh, I use VNC for all kinds of things like this. The old trouble ticketing system here refused to play nice with any window manager but twm or whatever *ugh* CDE uses, but it took me about a week to switch to sawfish. It's pretty convenient.
Another thing; with a three-button mouse on work's lappie and VNC to my desktop, I hardly know I'm actually using a Windows box via the VPN when I'm on from home.
This is great! I remember seeing this a few times just after the cards that could support the higher colour counts came out. Its good to see that its still about these days tho! *chuckles*
One of those new features that keeps customers scratching their heads wondering where the company went wrong yes? I remember those... its what i've seen my company put out on occaision - granted not as good as that one though!!
