EXIT CLUB ON A FUCKING BOAT!

The tape jukebox received its brain transplant and all appeared well. So I pissed off at 8:35pm and ran like fuck for the tube. Made it onto Westminster Pier at 9:02pm, but thankfully the boat was running on goth time. mikz got there about a minute after me. After about four pints (of what, I'm not sure. 'Bitter.') I was capable of speech that didn't involve swearing. Good thing I dressed nicely enough for work, eh.

allezbleu's outfit was much as promised. Technically decent. I am so annoyed I didn't have time to grab a camera. Phwoar! etc.

I'm not going to namecheck everyone. Spent most of the evening hanging out with andymariachi and Tatyana. mikz did have a lovely time. Tried to convince allezbleu that I really wanted her for her luscious breasts rather than her cigarettes at that moment, but she didn't believe me. (Still got the cig, but.)

The evening ended far too early, and there didn't seem to be any mass post-boat events happening. But damn, that was a fine night.

Stopped back in at work yesterday. Jukebox was failing to read the tape barcodes properly, and the server decided to die horribly anyway. Spent four hours beating it into submission, and the backup started FSVO. I'm sure there'll be more endless fun with it on Monday. My boss is making noises like this thing called 'overtime' exists; I recall having seen this word before, and it seems to be in the dictionary, but I must confess it's not familiar.

I'm glad that mikz had a great time, I just checked out his post about it...lurve the outfit ;-) (and I didn't realise he was blonde), had to laugh about the 6 degrees of separation thing too :-)

Overtime

That job for which my references haven't been pinged involved actual paid overtime. Something like AU$125 per four hours or part thereof, with a maximum of AU$250 in any one sitting. More than that is time off in leiu, at time-anna-half.

Apparently there's a lot of it about. Another trick to make Uni salaries more commercially competitive.

Nothing like the sort of money you can make as a contractor when the sky isn't falling, but still a lot better than the $10/week or whatever it was that Ericsson paid.
