As per last year:

This Saturday (December 6th) at 1pm or so, I will be attending a demonstration against the 68 Tottenham Court Road (right next to Goodge St tube) office of the Church of Scientology. Official announcement here. It usually involves hanging around handing out leaflets until about 3-3:30pm.

I still haven't updated my page on the subject since late 2000. But that's no reason not to show up. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess and [livejournal.com profile] arkady will also be endeavouring to attend.

Heh, any use for a hit-and-run clam-baiter dropping in on their way between hither and thither?

Funny, I just happened to be slumped half asleep in front of a doco on John Travolta last night. There were excerpts from that *wonderful* film, 'Battlefield Earth'.

Feh!

Go get 'em Tiger!

I remember reading Dianetics back in my gullible years. Reading that conversation you had with [REDACTED] makes me wonder if the ideal scientology "recruit" isn't someone who's been under some sort of conditioning their entire lives.

It's funny you should say that. I've always been extremely disturbed by the whole movement, not helped by befriending someone (http://www.xtdnet.nl/paul/) who's been hounded by the Co$. They do a lot leaflet-giving out during the start of (the University) term in Edinburgh, and I grabbed one. It was a personality test of some sort. With the old degree in Psych this fascinated me. Staring at it for a while I came to two conclusions - most people would get a high score, and people with certain disorders would get particularly high scores. I forget which disorders - clearly depression was one, but I also think it looked pitched at schizophrenics, too. Of course the sheer bizarreness of my conclusions (are schizophrenics really a good target audience?) makes me wonder if I was just plain wrong ;)

Would probably be up for that, if i'm not in a vicious mood, which is probably unfortunately likely the way things are going currently :/

I knew those guys are on a weird path/had more money than brain cells, but I didn't realise how dangerous some of their shit is until I read some of your links.
This is not good (I know, understatement!).
