Crusty post-punks: Gabrielle's Wish.

At the prompting of markeris, I'm going to tell you about something good I've heard (their name came up on the Factory list): a Manchester band called Gabrielle's Wish, who split earlier this year after ten years' stunning lack of success. They are severe retro post-punk of the sort it still pleases me greatly to hear, even if there's no lack of such ambitions about. (Interpol would be closest to having achieved industry success.) The vocalist sounds like Simon Topping. You can get four MP3s. "Sorrow" starts with an early Human League sample.
