My brain has been eaten by Wikipedia. An open source encyclopedia. Which seems to work surprisingly well. I blame [livejournal.com profile] redcountess, who caught the bug from Google when looking for information on the line of succession of the English throne.

[livejournal.com profile] arkady and I have started hacking away. Knowing no fear, we have started at Racial Holy War, Ben Klassen and the World Church of the Creator. I could have started at Scientology, except I'm already mentioned. Although I couldn't resist adding to Xenu.

Nice way to kill lots of time. Thank you. Did I mention that I have an informational addiction? BTW, I'll have to go across the bay to Applientology Hell in Clearwater and get you photos of "Goths camping the Scientology HQ".

Wikipedia just rocks totally. It's got to the point where a good proportion of Google searches end up there anyway.

Wikipedia is fantastic. The babelfish came up in conversation in the office before christmas, and I could just send the link to the Wikipedia entry to my project manager, instead of explaining it in painful detail.

Wikipedia is pretty cool.. I went through a spell a couple of months back of perusing it and making the odd update when I was bored at work. :-)

p.s. speaking of online crack, I see you've got another article onto Slashdot's front page (http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=04/01/04/0049249).

*snicker* Have you looked up goth - the subtypes of Goth are listed as Perkygoth, Mopeygoth, Cybergoth and Visigoth.

Of these only Visigoth has a Wikipedia entry.

A cheap laugh but I laughed anyway.

I assume you already know about UrbanDictionary.com (http://www.urbandictionary.com/)?

It was first brought to my attention when a friend was attempting to convey the rather questionable concept of "the shocker (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=shocker&f=1)".

On an utterly irrelevant note i have made an animated gif out of the pics on here (http://velvet.net/~fun/ukpix/030225-ali-poi/). It's 4.5 MB tho. I claim my lollypop!

Wikipedia is cool. (You can tell I'm behind with LJ, can't you :-)

The surprising thing is how well it works, given they even allow anonymous updates...

Damn but ain't it so? I've written there on Alliterative Verse, and on Lizzie Borden, and on a whole bunch of other stuff. Just finished the surprisingly vacant article on English Verbs.
