SNOW!!! this morning. Just one or two flakes, so maybe just snow!!!

I had Wednesday and Thursday off work ill. redcountess has also been sick as a sick thing (though getting better) — there seem to be three nasty colds going around and Liz has at least two of them. arkady has a bastard earache from Hell; attending Deathboy this evening will depend on whether her ear is up to loud noise in a smoky Water Rats.

We gave notice on the flat yesterday. Faced with losing non-pikdownmarket tenants who pay rent on time and don't trash the flat, the agent changed his tune from last August and said a month's extension would be just fine. Which means (if my bastard leave gets approved before the actual leaving date) we get back from Australia and have two weeks to find a house and move. I suspect we'll be asking for a second month.

We (or whatever subset of "we") do appear set for Rathaus tomorrow. I won't have my shiny shoes, but I'll be doing my best otherwise.

I've amused friends and family by treating ice outdoors as if it were the second coming of the great prophet Zarquon. Water is NOT supposed to freeze out in the open, it's against the local laws of nature! My South African cow-orker was similarly amazed when the pool outside the Great Satan of Databases froze solid one winter.

Mind you, I was pretty shocked when the Cam froze solid enough to walk on above Cambridge.
