I shall be Sliming tonight. I'm aiming to get there in time for Skelliga. [livejournal.com profile] arkady may be along depending how murderous she feels after work. ([livejournal.com profile] redcountess, of course, has more sense than to go near the place, much as she'd like to see Skelliga.) I'll be wearing the mesh top I bought today which involved giving money to Bl*ck R*s*, but at least it isn't one made by them. A powerful incentive to work those abs!

We have done the spreadsheet and are seriously looking at cancelling the trip to Australia. It's basically the hotel cost that would fuck us. (There's debt and then there's towering debt.) So to do the trip, we will need to stay with our dearest Australian loved ones. (In circumstances that will not exacerbate any existing domestic disharmony.) Please make your offers as soon as possible!

The Xircom Realport arrived today. Now to get the fecker to work in some regard with something.

Can you prevail on parents/brother/sisters/ uncles/aunties?

Would a backpackers hostel be affordable? (I know they're fucking awful, but hey...)

You could always do what a friend of my sister's did - turn up on a friend's doorstep with a bottle of plonk, your baggage and a forlorn look.

(Anyway, Casa de Beavis St is still available so you know you'll have a bed for some of the time anyway... ;-)

Unfortunately, staying with my mother is not an option, and I'm not close to my other relatives. All of David's relatives are in Perth. If it isn't going to exacerbate the situation with your sister and her b/f, we would love to stay there the nights of April 13-16, if that's ok?

Couple of other options, depending on budget and such:

* try Wotif http://www.wotif.com for cheap, last minute accomodation... found some centrally located places for AU$60-80

* Toad Hall http://www.toadhall-hotel.com.au/ - $70 for double

* YHA backpackers http://www.yha.com.au/hostels/details.cfm?hostelid=98 also in the $70's again $72 for double +$350 for non yha members

I'm also happy if you want to stay a few more nights here and there with me (weekdays suit me really well)... but it is probably further out than you want to be...

I'd be OK for a night or three. If IIRC, it wasn't you I moved to avoid killing.

Thanks, that would be great. Are the nights of the 24th, 25th and 26th convenient for you?

I'm probably out of town on that weekend (father's 50th birthday), but you guys are welcome to the house while I'm away.

god I wish I could offer you our place but we still have half of 'Albert and Gladys' clogging every room (and I mean every room). It's bad enough that we've given up entertaining....sorry, really like to help but it's not practical.

can recommend the Claremont Private hotel (http://www.hotelclaremont.com/) in South Yarra, if that helps?

That was one of the places I was looking at last night, thanks (wish we had the money to stay in the mansion bit at the front, it looks lovely!)

Plans are starting to come together, we'll make it - David and I really want to do this! And we understand completely the situation you're in. Even if you didn't have the stock taking up room, you'd be in no state for house guests with recent developments!
