We headless-chooked on Tuesday. severina_242, tcpip and Liz's mum and brother saw us off. I slept okay on the plane, redcountess didn't sleep at all.

We got in around seven, had two ridiculously large Starbucks caffeinated detergents and reflected on how Melbourne natives routinely recoiled in horror when we told them that Starbucks and clones served the best coffee readily available in London. arkady met us and we presented her with a bilby and a beanie mukluk. Then we Tubed home, I had a shower and Liz had a bath and collapsed.

Arkady and I just went down the shops. The tobacconist on the corner of Hoe and High Streets looked at us like we were Martians when I asked for cloves, so strike that one. In spring, even Walthamstow looks pretty ... ish. They've tarted Selborne Walk up nicely.

Today is Arkady's and my one-year anniversary. So there.

After trying what passes for coffee in and around Brisbane, and a brief glimpse of what Meldourne had to offer, the SO and myself lived on Nescafe (bah. <spit>) for the rest of .au.
OTOH, when I think of what BA tried to force on us, I can well imagine what awfaul-tea-marketed-as-coffee in London may taste like.

This was in Carlton, which is full of Italians with restaurants. They take their coffee very seriously. Carlton and Fitzroy coffee is what my profoundly biased sample think of.

I started missing you and Liz pretty much 5 minutes after you got on the plane. It was really, really fucking nice having you around. And I sat about, misty eyed, thinking about the Tate, and Camden, and the Dev.......

I think at the very least, a trip to London is in order. Perhaps with a side trip to Edinburgh.

Glad you made it home safe & sound. I was pleased we managed to catch up, even if I wasn't completely coherent on the evening. Sorry I wasn't very talkative. It took me several more days to overcome the heatstroke thing.
