The weekend was going to be a quiet time to recover from the holiday. Unfortunately, [livejournal.com profile] arkady showed up on the doorstep vomiting and unable to hold down even water, culminating in several hours in A&E (dressed in her best Distressed Rock Star, of course) and a day's recovery. She's a bit better now, though a few kilos lighter. So feed her when you see her. A&E is particularly fun on a bank holiday with a full moon.

[livejournal.com profile] redcountess and I are working out how to make our mediocre flat suck less and make our lives more livable and interesting. Well, she's worked it out, I am coming to awareness in an unfortunately stereotypical bloke manner. She showed me a list of things the house needs she wrote almost a year ago. *ahem*

The camera battery arrived. I got some terrible shots of the eclipse. I HAVE MY GADGET AGAIN! And will be able to show you all just how damned small this thing is.

I wish I could get more than five hours' sleep a night. My body is not interested in cooperating, no matter how much time I reserve. Probably old age.

Easy, just skip every other night like I do. My main problem is waking up to piss.

So is it a light thing, or do you just pop awake at that time? I fucking HATE sunlight. I used to go to incredible lengths, even at night, to get my room as dark as possible. Once when I was away at a convention I woke up in the middle of the night a hotel room, and based on the light level I imagined it was around noon and got the overslept panic attack. That was when I did things like drape cloths over the digital clock, and even taped over LEDs on *anything*. I still have a fetish for literally not being able to see my hand in front my face due to lack of light, but it's a huge PITA so I just deal.

I remember once taking a trip to Boston and awaking to full daylight and being astonished that it was 4:30 in the fucking morning. Wow, higher latitudes, curvature of the Earth and all that.
