[livejournal.com profile] redcountess slipped in the shower and fell onto eBay and that's how a PlayStation 2 got there. I have told her asked nicely that she stay off eBay until next payday. She says I can't have DDR until we're living on the ground floor.

On that note, do 5-way SCART splitters actually work properly and reliably for everything to talk to everything else?

Tonight we aim to be hot and spicy at [livejournal.com profile] valkyriekaren and [livejournal.com profile] wechsler's.

"... do 5-way SCART splitters actually work properly... " I wouldn't know, I have my PS2 and GCN plugged into the VCR-DVD combo on separate SCARTs (they show up as AV channel 2 and 3, respectively). Used to be I had stuff on a 2-way splitter cable and that worked fine (game input, stereo output and VCR all on one).

LOL! That sounds painful!

WHilst I would probably be light enough of foot to get away with DDR in a first floor flat, maybe you ought to ask [livejournal.com profile] deathboy nicely if you could practice in his cellar for a while first. ;-)

Please pass on my regards and apologies to Wechsler and Karen this evening. I'd love to come but I'll need my sleep more! Maybe we'll have to organise an [livejournal.com profile] eastlondongoths meet when I move up to Walthamstow in a few weeks!

Funny, that's exactly what my spouse told me, as well.

How much do PS2s go for on eBay, anyway? Their high-street second-hand price is getting towards my comfort zone (they're about £90 2H from GAME or Gamestation or CEX)

My best friend had a Scart splitter, something like 4 or 5 way, which didn't work at all. I understand the more expensive ones are powered though, and they work fine. The best way I can think of to describe it is like having 4 or 5 devices plugged into a USB hub - not happening unless it's got it's own PSU.

FYI I have my PS2, XBox, Gamecube, Sky box and video (remember those?) plugged into my TV at the same time, which only has two Scart sockets. If your TV has seperate video inputs anywhere on it you can use those, which is what I'm doing with my Xbox.

Maplin seem to have a "4-input, 2 output" all-SCART. They also have one that's "two SCARTs, 4 RCA phono jacks for composite video and sound" (thus, should be usable straight off with games consoles). You will quite probably have someone recommending a video speciality store (and that's bound to be better suited).
