Not only have I recovered almost all back issues of Party Fears, yesterday I found an old backup CD with stuff for the never-released #19. I'm converting it as we speak. I can't tell you how enormously pleased I am.

The trouble with first reading Lord Of The Rings at age thirty-seven is bad associations with its cultural descendants. Oh look, there's a random group of adventurers. There's a healing potion. There's a cursed knife that turns into smoke when you pick it up. There's a wizard blowing shit the fuck up! If only we could have Tolkein without the cat piss men. I once put up a housemate notice with "NO GAMERS PLEASE" at the bottom.

Spent lunch in Hyde Park with [livejournal.com profile] arkady. It's a lot cheaper than the pub. It's clearly spring. The breasts are out in force.

[livejournal.com profile] redcountess's health is in a long-overdue upswing. It may be spring, it may be coincidence, but we're crediting this book for the moment. It's improving our lives and relationship wonderfully.

I am very much looking forward to B-Movie this Friday. Poll later.

I have a dilemma for you; can gamers buy you pints?

Obviously I should remain in a terrible huff until 15 seconds after last orders at the Water Rats. :-)

Oh, he doesn't actually hate gamers that much - after all, he's going out with one....

Uh...I'm a roleplayer, not a wargamer. Whilst it's true that I have played Warhammer, Warmaster and Battletech, they aren't my games of choice. I only got roped into playing them because I was better at painting miniatures than anyone else. Apart from the Warmaster stuff which is 15mm scale - in which case I was the only person who could paint the damned things! I was put right off the game because before I could play a decent battle, I had to paint my opponent's army for them.

So no, I won't be leaving games set up on the kitchen table for a week! I might have some pretty diaramas set up in display cabinets though....

Oh, and whilst it's true that I have somewhere in the region of 4000 Magic cards, I don't play Magic any more. I ran out of people to play against with my Death from Above deck and got bored.

I sometimes appreciate reading LOTR at the tender age of "before reading much else fantasy" (I think, in fact, that LOTR was the book(s) that made me look outside whodunnits and SF) and well-before knowing there was such a thing as RPGs. Of course, these days I have a problem with LOTR, because it's actually kind of tedious (though knowing what to skip helps) and I actually doodle on new RPG systems.
