I'm phrasing this as broadly as possible: has anyone reading this ever bought cigarettes mail-order over the Internet and not had their credit card become Satan's catamite? If so, when and who from? Optional bonus points: where was the bank you made the payment through located?

Have you considered getting a card with oneshot numbers for this purpose?
I think MBNA still do them. The credit terms don't matter.

france does it as standard... you tell your bank how much you're gonna spend, they give you a number, you use it, the number expires, no fraud.

Indonesian banks are not inherently crooked. Well, mostly. But a notable amount of credit card fraud happens to numbers that make their way through one. (Remembering that almost all credit card fraud comes from workers at places you gave your number to.)

Yep used to do it all the time until Australian customs caught up with me and started making me pay the tax. They used a secure credit system called Pay Zip which was no issue. And yes... optional points for bank was in Australia.

Cigarettes ship out of St. Petersburg; I've only ever ordered Marlboro, Davidoff and Sobranie through them (originally started so I could get sobranies again)... the Marlboros were dodgy obviously locally russian made but the rest were normal high quality cigarettes.
