Out to dinner with [livejournal.com profile] arkady last night. She was just paid and I am po', so I was her kept bint for the evening. The Dev first, then Belgo Noord. This place is where beer goes when it's been Very Very Good. They also do food that goes with the beer. (We each had ten ounces of red raw blood-dripping steak.) Their beer menu is longer than their food menu and each one has its own glass. Beer and chocolate are why Belgium must be preserved.

Back to the Dev, where we saw [livejournal.com profile] perverse_idol and [livejournal.com profile] green_faeries. Vanessa is going hog-wild with her small square box of evil and even managed a tolerable picture of us - pretty good with no flash. Jess was a ridiculously cute and giggly drunk. She is mid-exams (essay topics in Philosophy) and was well in need of profound intoxication.

I remain the Sweetheart of the Piccadilly Line. [livejournal.com profile] arkady showed them the pics from B-Movie that were still on her camera. They still think I'm a "well fit bird" and said about the picture of me with [livejournal.com profile] redcountess on one side and [livejournal.com profile] arkady on the other, "Gosh, she's tall, isn't she?"

Me: "So, are any of them cute?"
Rose: (shudder) "No. Not in the least."

[livejournal.com profile] redcountess and I intend to attend Exit Club In A Fucking Tiki Bar, health permitting. I am at least 50% not dead today. I think.

Update: Yes, the damned links are fixed. HAPPY NOW?

The surprisingly good Michael Dracula (who are much better than their name would suggest), who we saw at the Hope & Anchor a couple of months ago, are playing at the Buffalo Bar (259 Upper Street N1 1RU, just under the Famous Cock Tavern, the pub outside Highbury & Islington tube) at 8pm this Saturday. I found this out from the bass-player's journal. (The band needs a mailing list!)

I saw them and thought "sounds like they listened to lots of early '80s post punk and went, 'let's do that!'" and chatted to the singer afterwards who confirmed that this was something like the case. That guitar-bass-drums sound where the guitar plays only lead lines, with screamy female vocals on top. More bands need copies of Metal Box.

I plan to attend even though I will probably be on the street begging for my entry fee in fiddy pee pieces. I strongly urge you to show up and see what good bands are like.
