The surprisingly good Michael Dracula (who are much better than their name would suggest), who we saw at the Hope & Anchor a couple of months ago, are playing at the Buffalo Bar (259 Upper Street N1 1RU, just under the Famous Cock Tavern, the pub outside Highbury & Islington tube) at 8pm this Saturday. I found this out from the bass-player's journal. (The band needs a mailing list!)

I saw them and thought "sounds like they listened to lots of early '80s post punk and went, 'let's do that!'" and chatted to the singer afterwards who confirmed that this was something like the case. That guitar-bass-drums sound where the guitar plays only lead lines, with screamy female vocals on top. More bands need copies of Metal Box.

I plan to attend even though I will probably be on the street begging for my entry fee in fiddy pee pieces. I strongly urge you to show up and see what good bands are like.

Artrocker gig guide listing:

GUIDED MISSILE @ THE BUFFALO BAR - HIGHBURY & ISLINGTON SAT 17TH MAY
kick off 8pm

COUNTRY TEASERS
evil country meets tammy wynette and the early fall . Unmissable!
THE BEALE
Art rock with weird films. Think early fall, PIL, residents, joy division
MICHAEL DRACULA
two girls and one boy from Glasgow make post-punk for the discotech
THE HORDES
special guests' early career intimate gig
ADRIAN R TEENBEAT
teenbeat main man. richman meets george formby

The Beale played at the abovementioned show. They try too damn hard to be arty and quirky, are utter wank and should not be tolerated. Michael Dracula had two boys last time, so hmmm.

Unfortunately not. However, maybe these will cheer you up:

Three Fair Maids (http://www.arkady.org.uk/BMovie/bm05.JPG)
Who is that ravishing blonde?? (http://www.arkady.org.uk/BMovie/bm19.JPG)

No HTML or index up yet, but the photos themselves are online. Funny how much faster I can process 45 images with a decent processor!

(And these links should work this time!)

Hmm. I think part of it is that you seem to be wearing white powder. What foundation are you using under face powder?

Not necessarily greenish - but something appropriately pale that will match the underlying skin tones. I use Maybelline foundation in Ivory under white powder, which works very well.

I can forsee a makeup shopping trip coming up shortly...however, I can't choose something for you without you being present so I can check skin tone. We'll have to arrange something - for a time when we're both free and you're feeling better!
