The MPAA rating for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actually warns of — and I quote — "Quirky Situations." OH MY GOD, IT'S QUIRKY! THINK OF THE CHILDREN! No warnings, thankfully, of "vaguely paedophilic subtexts" or "Robert Kilroy-Silk as an Oompa-Loompa."

Wikipedia basically works. Wikinews is producing interesting results and some good original reporting. Now the LA Times is running an experiment in wikified opinion pieces: they put up their June 17th editorial on a MediaWiki installation as what they call a Wikitorial. (They're also trying to turn "wiki" into a verb: an action taken upon a source text.)

The result is interesting: a considerably more polemical opinion piece with surprisingly good factual support (and only one Godwination). And of course a counterpoint was promptly split off (by Jimbo, no less).

Wikinews operates strictly to the Wikipedia Neutral Point Of View policy, and people couldn't really see editorial opinion working on a wiki. But so far the good wackos seem to be outnumbering the bad wackos.
