I am at my desk, still asleep. Two strong caffeines and a Sudafed at home and a can of Red Bull on the way in. Five hours' sleep. Two weeks in which I have not been able to rest properly. I so want that fecking agent to call today with the lease and keys and money and stuff.

When there is an office collection for a leaving gift for a co-worker you've never actually met, is it wrong to take the opportunity to offload all the foreign coins that have found their way into your change, if you put a couple of quid in as well?

Dorkbot was not as good as usual last night. Two speakers cancelled and Limehouse Town Hall echoes way too much. The flashing lights 3D display at the end was good, though. Met [livejournal.com profile] kineticfactory at long last.

We live in a world of plenty as if we are starving. Greed comes from a fear of loss, which is rooted in emotional betrayal.

Gosh, two in a row! I'm on a roll now.

Don't you have anywhere you can dump them legitimately? There are collection boxes for foreign currency here.

They have them at Heathrow airport, but that's a little far. Of course, if they're Australian, they're practically worthless anyway ;-) I'm thinking of sending the euro coins and the ones the landlord left to Bill, he'd love them!

I always keep my leftover euro coins, now that they're multi-purpose.

Congrats on getting the new place...after the disaster of the last one, you folks deserve a good run. :)

no. i refuse to give anything at all for people i've never met. my workplace has a really nasty culture where they try to force everyone to give money for leaving things. it's like a constant stream of it, too. and they work harder for the big bosses getting golden handshakes.

My new workplace looks like turning out to be the sort of place where you have to get birthday cards for *everyone*, & sometimes presents. I'm not impressed. At my last workplace we all genuinely liked each other but still barely acknowledged birthdays. Oh right, we were too busy actually working.

at the moment I'm getting out of it by being too new, but that won't last. On the plus side, I'm getting away with not going to the official Christmas party.
