It's been a pleasant enough week. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess has been well and getting out. [livejournal.com profile] arkady was invited to Wales at short notice, so we have the cat and rat for the weekend. [livejournal.com profile] tom_pusscat seems to have decided this is also his house, and kindly peed and sprayed in several places before we could let him out to drive the other local cats out of the yard.

I am sleep-deprived and on call. The live system is currently breaking every couple of hours and we have no idea why; my boss, the build manager and myself are all watching over it. I'm on call for my birthday, but I'll be seeing if I can't do a deal. Perhaps I will get enough uninterrupted sleep before then.

So right there with you on regular-text paragraph 2, sentence 1.

Except that I know why everything's broken, I fix it, then I send an email to the moron who let it stay broken for four months now. But my world is easy: NetBackup's so not hard.

Yeah, it always helps to know that someone else is hurtin' too.

I've about had it with the ops people who think, because they're second or third shift, that they have some late-night community with me because we're both awake. Yeah, fuckers, but I've been up since the normal work day yesterday, so piss off now.

Also: how many cloves have you gone through this on-call? 'cause I'm coming up on a pack by the end of Sunday...

With regard to the book; it's possible that it was a stray survivor from a good old-fashioned fundie book-burning (http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/rnr/55260886.html) session to celebrate the inauguration.
