Friday was a quiet domestic day of going shopping and being snowed on. The pimp call of the day was the job for someone with five years' Solaris and AIX that would have been £55K in banking, £45K anywhere else and was £35K working for a media company. 'Cos people will do anything to be rock stars. I politely declined.

Last night redcountess and I watched Shaun of the Dead. We failed to spot anyone we knew amongst the extras, except Liz spotting preachermuaddib. Liz empathised with wandering through suburban London and seeing no difference.

Today, Liz and I sat in and geeked. I have given up on the hard way for the moment (getting the wifi card to work under L**gn*x) and have put W*nd*rs on the laptop. flavius_m dropped over a Macintosh G3 from juliann and naughtypixie! And it's not a beige (ADB-only, no OS X higher than 10.2) — but a blue G3 with 10.3.8! We are enormously pleased.

(Note to birthday conspirators: we will still be getting Liz a new Mac, probably a new iBook, when I have a cashflow again!)

Tomorrow I wander down to the high street for some shopping and to accompany arkady on a bureaucratic assault mission. Tomorrow evening we all hope to be in Camden to greet needler and nadnad.
