  • USB fondue set. (I thought the nineties were the seventies with computers.)

Geeks: bored? Edit a three-gig database binary dump using gvim. It works without a hiccup. Just, er, very slowly indeed.

At present I am mostly stressing about how to make rent in two weeks. Currently preparing everything in sight for eBay. Most annoying thing is that in a few months my parents are selling their house, of which I own a third. Gah! Anyone know of work I can do that pays soon, not four to six weeks or whatever after one starts?

Job interview Wednesday, in Staines. Thursday I sign on. Monday, Watford!

I have been lax in my diarising. This week has been the Festival of Buggre-Alle because we is po'. Sunday [livejournal.com profile] redcountess went out into the lovely spring sunlight with Arnie the cat. Thursday, [livejournal.com profile] vatine assisted with Frankenbed. Wednesday, [livejournal.com profile] arkady and I went to the Dev and met [livejournal.com profile] kest. Who is Cute. Last Saturday (March 26th), [livejournal.com profile] arkady and I went out clambaking (32KB PDF) and then to the London Wikipedia meet.

If you're desperate, Flicky needs people to help here and there with household sorting out (not particularly heavy physical work, just things she needs to climb a ladder for and she won't do that when home alone) and gardening. The house is very dusty though, so might not work for non-robust lungs. She'd probably pay for your travel expenses as well as a fiver an hour cash.

This is probably not enough, because she isn't well enough to do hours and hours on end for days and days, but it might be worthwhile if you can deal with the a) madness and b) dust, particularly if you are not doing anything else. Shall I give her your number, or ask her if you can have hers?

That fondue pot amuses me.

Alas, I cannot offer work, unless you wish to work for cardboard boxes (those, I have lots of), but good luck in your quest.

Are you planning on coming to the funeral? (I keep wanting to say 'wedding'. Cam's sister was doing it on the weekend, too. It's very weird.)

Well, you knew of him, and you seemed quite nice. :) He certainly knew of you, as well, through arkady. You're certainly welcome. (To both the funeral and the thing after.)

And, of course, you know of FreeBSD. :)

Secretarial temping they pay you a week in arrears (so you get paid the 2nd Friday after you start), assuming you get your bank details to them on time. Or at least they used to.

If you want cash-in-hand - is bar work no good? (I see above that you can't do that much physical stuff - it's not *that* physical, just involves standing up/walking around for 4 hrs at a time). Or supermarket checkout, if you're desperate.

Temping probably your best bet, then - at least it's seated!

My lawyers would like me to emphasize that I did nothing at all to put that thought in your head, nor may I officially encourage it.

Did you go down to Reed to ask about temp work? I promise, Sue doesn't bite!
If you're lucky they should be able to get you into some sort of work within a couple of weeks, and most temp jobs pay weekly, not monthly.

as suggested , some temping, even if its just basic data entry (I know not what you want) but you'll get some cash and usually it's paid weekly
