Busy few days. Our dear rat Spike, brother of the departed Squeeek!, died early on Wednesday morning. This was definitely old age. RIP Spike 9th January 2003–6th April 2005. redcountess has a good post about him. arkady came over yesterday and helped us bury him.

(I expect we'll be getting more ratties in short order ...)

Wednesday I did not go to Slough for a job interview. I did speak to someone Thursday about the heretofore unmentioned plans to shift offices from somewhere commutable to somewhere not commutable; they said that, on reflection, the job did in fact require a car. And probably residence in suburban Berkshire. I attribute this to a failure of proceduralism.

Thursday I signed my soul over to the welfare state. But you know, you get much nicer treatment at the DWP for contribution-based dole than income-based dole.

Today, Arkady, androktone and I are attending nephrozym's funeral. B-Movie is quite unlikely after that. Though redcountess still wants to go should she be well enough. This means we shall probably miss meeting mathilde in person, damn and blast.

I'm guessing you wrote this entry last night and only just got around to posting it this morning, as it was *yesterday* I came over....

And we will be sans androktone unless she decides to actually answer her phone sometime very soon.

Argh. One hour's sleep was not enough. :-/

Died of old age after a happy life. You can tell he was old and past it 'cos his balls had shrivelled up. (OH NOES!!)

You'd know if you knew him. Cameron Grant, FreeBSD committer and serious ubergeek with a brain the size of a planet and a body that basically didn't work - he had two types of muscular dystrophy at once and his life was sustained by machines. There's a page on him here.
