Yesterday we went out to see the corpse flower at Kew Gardens. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess was well enough to come out and I showed my true love for her by pushing a wheelchair several miles. [livejournal.com profile] arkady got photos. That was a Grand Day Out and we love Arkady lots for it and my back still hates me.

Today has been a quiet day of attempting to solve the locked room puzzle of installing a proprietary-only WiFi driver on an Ubuntu laptop. We can't find the Ethernet card, you see. Steps so far include Debian floppies and a Debian CD; we are now downloading the Ubuntu CD for the next step.

I've done what I can for the businessy thing. Now waiting until Tuesday. And lining up the steps to take then, of course.

Ms Duncombe had told the Daily Telegraph she did not know what the flag signified until the controversy erupted, but would not remove it because her four-month-old daughter liked its bright colours.

Presumaby, baby also liked the shiny uniforms, the funny goosestepping, and delicious smell of oven-roasted Jewry.

Hey, are you using the sarge netinst rc3 cd? That thing is way hot and detects a lot of shit. To find it, irc to irc.freenode.net and "/msg dpkg d-i". The #debian channel there is pretty badass too- lots of devels and assorted geeks there literally 24/7- easily the most helpful IRC support channel on the net.

Hope you don't have an ACX or anything with a TI chipset- those things are *nasty* to get working and buggy when they do- there's a sourceforge page for the reverse-engineered drivers for it(well, a kernel module that wraps the Windows drivers really)

Debian is teh win.

If she's really insistent, though, Kubuntu seems to be a newish subdistro based on Ubuntu, except it is KDE-centric instead of Gnome-centric.
