How to get the Linux compatibility fontconfig to see your fonts in FreeBSD: ln -s /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts /usr/compat/linux/usr/share/fonts/freebsd (or whatever you want to call the symlink). The Bitstream Vera fonts do look nice antialiased. And the Linux-gtk2+xft version of Mozilla 1.7.7 includes SessionSaver.

A plea for help: where in London can I get black or dark grey jeans with a 34" waist and a 36" inside leg? Other than at a Levi's shop for fifty quid. That aren't flared ridiculously, [livejournal.com profile] poggs.

I remember Steer getting some from there a year or so ago, and I know it was the only place he could find 36" leg. No other ideas I'm afraid.

T*sco and *sda huge stores might have them, for £6 and £8 respectively.

M&S possibly a better bet.

*sighs and wishes she could get ladies' jeans with the right measurements and Black Enough, but cannot afford Long Tall Sally and will have to do with cross-dressing for now*

For X11 fonts, you could always just extend/alter the font path that your instance of the X11 server uses by modding it in your .xinitrc file. You need the xset command, something like:

xset fp+ /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts
xset fp rehash

should do it.

Dropping symlinks around the place works, but also can break easily when it comes to upgrading your OS. Smlinks can sometimes ao cause bits of software to choke because when the software does a path regression it ends up in totally the wrong directory. Invetigate using HARD links, rather than plain symlinks (although these only work within the same drive partition).

Yup. M&S.

[livejournal.com profile] cavalorn favours the black 'moleskin' jeans rather than the black denim, while [livejournal.com profile] thewolfen prefers the black denim.

How do I know? Because I do their clothes-shopping.

Marks actually do some quite nice jeans. Well made, and without stupid machine-torn/fake-worn bits or anything else. They also stock about three variations of leg length for every waist length, meaning it's about the only place I can find some that fit me properly.
