I committed democracy earlier today, and [livejournal.com profile] redcountess just spent seven precious unemployed quid on a taxi there and back to make damn sure she placed her vote as well. So you don't have an excuse. (She'll be getting a postal vote next year, though.)

We both ended up voting for Neil Gerrard, the Labour guy. (That's his official site, which doesn't show his fabulous teeth.) It's annoying that a vote for Neil is a vote for Tony, but he's the sort of Labour candidate that wet liberal pinko social democrats like ourselves would want in the party. I suppose we could have tactically voted in safety. On the other hand, his consistent voting against the nastier New Labour ideas means the party wouldn't mind getting the hell rid of him if he didn't keep bringing in over 60% of the vote.

Addendum: I r t3h m0r00n. I have this moment realised I could easily have called one of the parties and they would happily have driven Liz to the polling booth if needed. Buh.

DEFINITELY worth supporting Labour rebel types... they are becoming too few and far between and the country needs them!
