The Cipramil appears to be working: I am not only thin and beyootiful with a metabolism like a blast furnace (and I am continuing to eat like a horse), I actually want to do stuff and am getting out of putting it off. This is a lifetime first. I am also in a generally marvellous mood. (Except when I see my poor dead MP3 camera.) It's like a spoon factory in a pill. So far so good. Xenu prevails!

I am particularly pleased that I managed to stay unemployed through the summer and it's turned to autumn the second I get work. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess says I just need to get contracts fat enough to take six months off each year with twenty thousand quid squirreled away. (I wish.)

The job is Not Sucking. I might even take to showing up 8am-4pm, having worked this schedule before with the decent result of enough time to do things in the late afternoon and early evening. And we'll probably be getting two of [livejournal.com profile] vatine and [livejournal.com profile] urocyon_c's kittens, so they must of course learn that breakfast is at 6:30am. Today's early start did not quite go smoothly (we accidentally took the entire server room down ... oops), but at least I write a very slick mea culpa document.

We've sent off Liz's Permanent Leave to Remain application. Fingers crossed!

Current weekend schedule is drinkies with [livejournal.com profile] kineticfactory on Friday and [livejournal.com profile] sparklielizard and [livejournal.com profile] stevenothing's London wedding celebration on Saturday. Anything important on other days?

I need more icons. Being me, I need to create them myself. But your suggestions for pictures to iconise are most welcomed.

It's Sephiroth in the shower.

It's by ArtifexRequiem (http://arifexrequiem.deviantart.com), who seems to be rather fond of Sephiroth....

Dunno why, but, every time I see a deviantart.com URL, I initially parse it as "Devian Tart".

Don't blame him. He's the sexiest video game villain I know. That picture made my day.

It made mine too when I found it.

You should see my folder of Sephiroth-porn....

Of course, I'm fortunate enough to have my own living, breathing Sephiroth-alike! ;-)

I thought you'd like it. :-)

Oh, I've put my folder of Sephiroth-porn online. Well. Not quite all of it; I've left off the reall hardcore yaoi stuff (Sephiroth really loves cock, it seems), but there's still a sizeable chunk of stuff there.

Enjoy!

PEDOPHILES: LEAVE STAR TREK ALONE!

Go...enjoy Star Wars or something.
I never was fond of that.

Or join the rest of the Battlestar Galactica weenies.

...or hell, just stick to DS9, VOY and Enterprise.

"Permanent Leave to Remain"? Is it just me or does something sound wrong with that?

Excuse me while I go for a walk. I can't stand sitting.

on the subject of the trekkies, it's worth noting that the police did not seriously say that all but one of them were trekkies. they *did* notice that a very large proportion of them had a lot of star trek paraphanalia, but not 99/100.
also, where the hell have you all been?? i read about this ages ago, when they released the photos of the Disney World Girl locations. the article in the Toronto Star said "most of them", IIRC.

[kittens] must of course learn that breakfast is at 6:30am

Well, if the kittens have been weaned and are eating wet or dry food then its not a problem - put food down for kittens and let them eat it when they want to. Dry food is especially good for doing this.

However if they've not been weaned then they'll need feeding every 4-6 hours during the day. We're doing this with Spoon right now and he is getting a feed at 8am, around midday, around 8pm and then one last thing in the evening. Unfortunately young kittens (Spoon is ~5 weeks old) need feeding a reasonable amount on a regular basis.

Hopefully Spoon will start to take an interest in the wet kitten food we've been putting out for him soon. In the mean time its a fun job of bottle feeding a kitten to be done.

I couldn't really find a square subset of it that reduced to 100x100 pixels usefully, but I don't really Do That anyway, so maybe you can.

Trek/paedophilia: first, of course, anecdotal evidence from one group of detectives doesn't really deserve to be taken seriously. If another similar unit from another part of the world said "actually, it's true", I might start to think there's substance to it. So what follows is noodling about what one might think if there were reason to believe it.

First, of course it doesn't mean anything bad about Star Trek fans. Correlation is not causation.

Second, it's noteworthy that it was those being busted for child porn, not for actually attacking children, and apparently there's little correlation between these offences. A post here (http://www.corante.com/importance/archives/2005/05/30/hopefully_the_last_post_on_the_star_trekpedophilia_connection.php) points out a number of factors like computer literacy you would expect child porn buyers and Star Trek fans to have in common that might account for any correlation.

Thirdly, yeah, OS Star Trek at least is incredibly sexually immature, but I wish I could point at some sexually mature SF TV to contrast it to. Or any sexually mature TV...
