It is getting cold enough that I can start wearing the coat to work. w00t! Now I can wander Morden at lunch in coat and sunglasses and have yobs shout "MATRIX!" at me! Which is better than having them shout "PIMP!" Probably.

The buggery bollocks pet shop seems to have vanished, so I'll need to stop at the one in Walthamstow on the way home for a litter tray. I did get a litter tray scoop and a couple of flea collars. Which specify minimum age as 12 weeks ... the kitaens are 8 weeks old. D'oh.

It's really not a good idea to use flea collars on younger cats :/

Handy tip: Flea control with a battery-powered flea zapper comb is as good and avoids chemo-resistant fleas...

When you said collars, I thought you meant regular collars. I don't like using flea collars and would prefer to get the kittens Advantage.

I'm sure the pet shop will have ordinary collars that are just as pretty - look at the leopard print one I bought Coco for her first birthday :-)

Agreed! We used them for ours (before I found out they were bad) and they didn't even work!

I have a feeling those drop things you put on the back of the cat's neck can be used from an earlier age than flea collars.

You will have to walk around with Andrew and then the yobs might explode trying to shout at both of you at once!

FrontLine is t3h shit! Though it's (as far as I'm concerned) strictly in "eeep! things out of hand! need massive fleacide NOW!"-territory, then one goes to zappery flea-zapper comb

In many years of cat ownership [something liek 20, I think], it's only been in the UK that fleas have been a problem.

"The buggery bollocks pet shop seems to have vanished"

Wait, it wasn't one of those shops, was it? The ones that suddenly appear where you swore there was only an empty wall yet that look as though they've been there for ages, and that you can never find again later?

Nice coat!!!! Melikes. :)

Flea collars don´t actually work wery well, get Frontline from the vets (which DOES work) instead. However, if the kitten are clean anyway I wouldn´t worry about any flea prevention just yet. Like it says, they are too young anyway.

You probably don't need to worry about flea collars until they go outside (unless some human brings fleas into the house from somewhere, which is pretty rare unless you know some skanky humans)... and they shouldn't be going outside until they've been vaccinated and de-sexed... and you can't de-sex them until they're about 6 months old.

Admittedly I did used to take my kittens for romps in the garden before they were de-sexed (but not before they were vaccinated), but that was fully supervised (if 'through the lens of a camera cause the little buggers were so damn cute' counts as supervised!)
