Today is putting another disk into the test E250 and adding it to the metadisk the databases live on. This should have taken about thirty minutes if approached with extremely leisurely caution *. I expect to have it done by the end of the day. Right now I'm running the server through all manner of hardware tests because the SCSI chose to stop this foolish masquerade of being digital and instead revel in being just another analogue device pretending, with random disk errors at random blocks. We just might have a test box again tomorrow. Either that or a service call.
* oh all right, and a couple of hours to analyse the disk

Date: 2005-11-09 03:37 pm (UTC)I just had to go thump it again to get it to see the new disk (remove and replug). I'll be alerting all that it's acting a bit like a five-year-old E250 and might have a cracked trace or two, and if we can get it to fail reliably we can put in a service call. I suppose applying a hairdryer would count as cheating.
