I had yesterday off work as my digestive system decided that everything must GO. I blame this on buying lunch from LiDL on Wednesday. Yeah, I should know better. I am now somewhat thinner.

I did fetch quiet000001's new New Rocks from Future Designs. NICE BOOTS! Bought a replacement Matrix coat, size XL. I also gave them my leather jacket to fix and reline. My Formulas should be in later this month.

Kris is iffy for B-Movie this evening, but if she does come we have the Boots. arkady has bowed out due to general headless-chickening (though I've got her camera on open-ended loan, since she bought herself a new 5.0MP shiny thing for seventy quid from Maplin). redcountess will be doing her damnedest to come along. Who else will be there?

Old new cameras are approximately Bugger-All on eBay. Though after I bought one, loved it lots for a month and it magically stopped working, I'm pretty sure I'll be going for a new one next time.

That's the whole problem with EBay....you never really get any garuntee on stuff.

But my current camera is an old (ancient in Digital Years) Kodak DC210. 1MP, no zoom, fixed-focus..... But the quality of the pictures themselves tend to be so good, I just can't bring myself to justify buying a new one.

What I really need is to get a mobile phone with a decent camera in it. Because I inevitably end up driving around at work suddenly needing a camera and not having it with me.

I've yet to see a phone camera that isn't shit.

I recommend the Casio Exilim line for a really ridiculously tiny camera.

I have a Casio Exilim and it is very shiny (http://pics.livejournal.com/hairyears/pic/0001sq8w/g4). Takes good pics in daylight (http://pics.livejournal.com/hairyears/pic/00089fht/g4) and excellent close-ups (http://pics.livejournal.com/hairyears/pic/0008a9cd) but the low-light performance is crap. So it's sod-all use at MooBeevie unless you flashgun the bejeezus out of all and sundry.

Tried either of the Ericsson K750i or K600i ?
The camera on my K600i is quite reasonable given enough light. Not surprisingly for a camera unit smaller than the end of my little finger, its low-light performance is poor.

The K750i is specifically t3h suck in low light — it does okay except for the sodding great stripes across everything. Perhaps next year.

I'm actually feeling less exhausted, since I finished wrangling with that PC - everything works, I've rescued all the irreplaceable data, the user is ecstatic and has been duly cautioned about making proper backups onto the server from now on.

Doesn't solve the "rather skint and don't think I can really afford it" aspect though....
