I am off work today (picture £203 with wings flying into the sunset yet again) with interesting gastric entertainments. [livejournal.com profile] arkady has been looking after [livejournal.com profile] redcountess and I. We looove her! [livejournal.com profile] sheridanwilde has also been over providing witty conversation and cups of tea.

My Ubuntu 5.10 CD package arrived today. Anyone who wants one, just ask. I have twenty i386 packs, three AMD64 and two Mac. This edition features people wearing clothes. We also have [livejournal.com profile] hawkeviper's leftover 5.04 disks. Anyone who wants CDs for mobiles, skeet shooting, paint palettes ...

FreeBSD 6.0 is much nicer than FreeBSD 5.x in every way I've looked at so far. I think red will be very happy come upgrade time.

We have just ordered the Epson RX620. [livejournal.com profile] wintrmute recommended the Canon Pixma line, but we went with this because it's six-colour. It'll probably see most use as a scanner and fax in any case.

I also commend to you [livejournal.com profile] reverend2001's later post on Tal.

I heard about Richard Griffiths on the tele today and thought he was in every way right to do stuff like that! I only wish that would happen at cinemas also. I cannot STAND it happening while I'm trying to lose myself in a movie!

Having read Ken Stott was also in the play, I'm surprised that he didn't go up and knock her teeth out.

Well, that's just the way Ken Stott looks to me.

Mind if I snaffle a Ubuntu CD set? I fancy taking a look at the world outside Slackware again (setting up some demo VMs for work), and it'd be nice to have an 'official' distribution CD just once... Stick me at the back of the queue if you like; an out-of-date one will do if they're in demand!

People wearing clothes sounds terribly pedestrian, you know. More nakedness on the desktop! (One of these days I'll convince [livejournal.com profile] _sugar_babe_ to visit the office. *cough*)

Will do -- might be around next weekend, but will be making some arrangements over the next few days.

x86 would be best I think, I only have one EM64T box and it's a bit too mission-critical to play around with!

That's good to hear about FreeBSD 6.0. I just got my CDs in the mail yesterday... maybe i'll upgrade my 4-STABLE box at work next week.

Well, that's my de facto test box anyhow. All it does these days is serve up my mp3s over samba and http.

Thank you!

(I was just gonna suggest using [livejournal.com profile] damerell as a vector next b-movie, but I don't know when that is. ^^;)

December 9th: Phantom of the Opera. (Must get myself a second-hand wedding dress from a charity shop when I get paid next week....)

Oooh, I'd love to go as Carlotta, but where would I get a red Victorian ballgown from? And I wonder if someone will go as the Red Death?

Hmm. Hire one? Or do a charity-shop trawl, like me? Anything red and foofy would probably do and could be adapted, if we find it early enough. I'm intending to look in the Camden charity shops because they seem to get more wedding dresses in than anywhere else I've seen, and quite a few get ballgowns in.

Do you think you could squeeze into your red corset at all?

Oh, and I think I have a red and black feathered fan around here somewhere....

The corset was rather large when I got it - so it probably will fit ok, but it's pvc, which isn't very Victorian, is it?
