Compaq laptop bits needed.
Dec. 27th, 2005 12:59 amIn giving
narnee the old M300 (PII-333MHz, 11" screen, 800×600), we probably need some bits for it and my Evo N410c:
- Compaq battery — required. Ideally the funky M300 cylinder battery (only good for that model!), or failing that the standard Compaq laptop battery that slots into the base station. (M300 cylinder batteries are £60 new, £40-45 on eBay or US$70 exchange, assuming Customs don't gouge me.)
- Compaq CD or DVD drive, that similarly slots into the base station.
- Compaq power adapter, 18.5-19 volts. (Mine is currently running on the Dell adapter, which is the right voltage but has a not-quite-right plug which falls out far too readily.)
Also, if anyone has a spare 11b wifi access point, she could really do with one of those — the M300 has no Ethernet but a wifi card that works fine (with some kicking) in Ubuntu, but Sahra has no wifi point at home!
A line on any of the above cheap, free or in exchange for as yet unspecified goods, services or alcohol would be most welcomed, please!
Mail almost back on velvet. We're currently waiting for
hawkeviper to return and untar the mail directories, then we can get the MX repointed ...
