  • Goodness! (Apparently I'm up against Charles Dickens.)

[livejournal.com profile] redcountess remains very unwell, so I've been home all weekend. I've been pottering about online and sporadically tidying.

I did get the Merry Chanukahmas! pics of [livejournal.com profile] narnee's visit up. I have also just dug out the bag of undeveloped film from three to four years ago, which I really should put in some time. Recommendations of competent developers would be welcomed. I'm looking for someone who won't just give it to the bored and underpaid sixteen-year-old trainee they showed how to work the machine last week — these will probably need a good kicking.

GIMP's defaults are annoying me. (That's gimp.app on MacOS X.) I would like to tell it to remember that how I like my JPEGs (optimised, progressive, quality 85, DCT float) and to resample using cubic rather than linear. We're in a world of stupid amounts of CPU and I think any machine that will be displaying these pictures can afford to use some floating point on a JPEG.

Jessops are better than average, which I'd actually expect.
NOT BOOTS EVER because they scratch negs and call 'child porn' to the police very irresponsibly.
If you really care about the film, go to a pro lab and talk to them.

You know, there might be a couple of photos of me in that batch of undeveloped rolls, when I was young(er) and (sob) skinny....

Mac OS X Gimp's just as scriptable as the regular one, last I checked. I still don't take enough pictures to bother learning, but it should be enough to make a (I'm going to feel dirty after I type this) script-fu (yep, dirty!) entry to use instead of "save as... JPEG".
