The headcount who was off ill long-term has returned, removing their excuse to hire me, so a third contract period is now unlikely. Pity, this was a nice gig.

As an aspiring poor person once more, expect me to extract drinks from all and sundry as appropriate and available (I put out!) and no longer to shower pretty girls with coats and boots and dollies. Well. Not as much.

Having no wish to catch up with that much sleep, I'm updating the CV and will be publicising and spreading it as appropriate. Anyone after a general Unix admin with five years' Solaris who can actually do readable documentation on what he does? (flings legs in air)

Update: Still after something less inadequate in terms of a laptop or a way to get the Evo working. There are some things I can't be reasonably expected to do without.

Sorry to hear you're out of a job. Luckily, you're a clever sausage and will get more jobs. I know!

I'm off for a post-work walk to burn off the food I just ate. Ho hum!

"That's a really bad idea. Well Done."

I think [livejournal.com profile] simonb's former employer is a bit shorthanded. The commute's not too bad from Tottenham Hale.

And in this regard we see the difference between Wikipedia and the real world. Because, I mean, on Wikipedia if you'd done a good job...

Aw, that's a pity. At least you have enough warning to try to find a new gig before this one ends.

Possibilities

We may have a need for a good Solaris admin as our current one is also our CTO. Any deep-geek knowledge of DNS and willingness to work with a couple of old-school net.goth Ruby (ab)users would be a bonus...

When our CTO has made up his mind on the next round of staffing I'll put a comment in my LJ.
BTW, do you know Romek at all?

Well I suppose the world of net.gothdom isn't as small as it sometimes seems...

My work's main sysadmin handed in his notice today; so we'll be hiring shortly!

We used to be a FreeBSD shop, but I persuaded them to turn around to Linux about a year and a half ago. It's all a mix of Debian, and old FreeBSD 4.x, boxes. (They never could get the Frisbee 5 ones to be stable)

Bad news - hope you find more work soon (you seem to have had a few leads already).
