Q. Why are goths bisexual?
A. They can't tell either.

Problems only goths have: chatting up someone and trying to work out how to ask if they're a boy or a girl.

Worse problems only goths have: waking up next to someone after a night of passion and trying to work out how to ask if they're a boy or a girl.

(If that skirt looks really good on them, they're a boy and it's their girlfriend's.)

Yes! It might be me, and it looks good because I made it.

Now Mr 'the legs' K you are the exception in my disagreement with the above statement!
You ALWAYS look fantastic (as does Lisa for the record) in skirts, I am amused by men who think they look good in a skirt when infact they have legs not dissimilar to a glue factory nag

Why goths spend hours looking at themselves in mirrors: They're trying to work out if they themselves are a boy or a girl.

They're clearly pointing the mirror at the wrong place, then.

pfft, you don't know much about boys and girls then. I know a lot of girls who look like boys when you life their skirts. I also know a few boys who look like girls when you drop their pants.

Isn't gender an amusing concept.

It's still a better clue than looking at a goth's face.

among the people I know the rule is: Assume someone is the gender appropriate to their clothes. If you get it wrong then you are likely to make their day. Getting it wrong the other way can drive people to hurt themselves.

If clothes are not a good enough hint... ask.

I just don't ask anymore, unless it becomes important logistically. Just one less thing to worry about.

I am referring more to the use of pronouns. Get them wrong with some people and it's a bad bad thing.

Oh, hmm. I don't really worry about that either; I'm not even consistent in use of pronouns referring to myself.

In the unlikely event that we ever met, I'd do my best to refer to you with your preferred pronoun. However, I feel it's only sporting to warn you that I have very sharp teeth indeed.

It is definately unlikely we till ever meet though.

I do feel I should clarify; I don't ignore people's asserted gender, I just don't tend to use pronouns in the singular and don't overly worry over whether someone is a boy or a girl or neither or both. It seems a bit personal, you know? It seems awkward to say "I don't care", but that's basically it; unless it becomes personally important or they request otherwise I assume people are whatever they present as.

:> I have no excuse but lurgy-related incoherence. I've been hanging around drag queens and transfolk most of my life at this point - I stopped questioning farther than necessary an awful long time ago. It's just easier all around that way.

goddam lurgies.

I suppose I should clarify too... I am actually post-op MtF, I transitioned in the goth scene years ago. In that way this thread has been amusing for me while simultaneously being scary and difficult. I have been stealth regarding my history for 6 years, and it's starting to piss me off.

so, um, yeah.

Apologies for the incoherent ramblings and babbling.

Maybe it's both, combine drugs AND vanity! I swear, hold them upside down and Mr Dyson would be out of business.

Fortunately I've never been in any state of confusion regarding others.
