Hi, Liz here. David has been very ill with the flu all week, which has been exacerbating his asthma. This afternoon he was finding breathing very difficult, so I rang A&E and after listening to his breathing over the phone, they transferred us to the Ambulance service who confirmed our address and sent a nee naw. After taking all his vitals and putting him on a nebuliser, we were whisked off to Whipps Cross A&E where they took a chest x-ray, and some bloods, and then put him on the nebuliser again. The consultant checked his blood gas and found it low, so David was put on straight oxygen and when that didn't improve the gas level, he was admitted overnight. Arkady and I have been quite concerned, but when we left him, he was a lot more comfortable and healthier looking than he was earlier, and incredibly bored ;-) Hopefully he will be back home tomorrow.

I've told him he's obviously getting his own back for all the times I've scared or worried him. He stuck his tongue out at me. ;-)

Bored really is a good sign. Maybe they'll let him sit up and fill in some sudoku puzzles. [evil laugh]

Tell him that the Czarina and I are pulling for him. And I mean that in the American "honest support" and not the UK "drinking ourselves senseless" way.

Asthma is never a good thing: it always makes colds and influenza that much worse. May he get better soon.

I've joked a great deal about my evil twin, but the synchronicity is creepy sometimes.

I suppose I should have warned him that I'm seeing doctors for a heart problem and as-of-yet unexplained stabbing pain in the abdomen, as well as trying to quit smoking, and under a lot of stress.

Or is this not a cause-and-effect thing, merely just a terrifyingly creepy series of strange coincidences?

In any case: get well soon, The Evil Huey. Signed, The Evil David
PS: I'LL GET YOU

I can't stand being ill, I get bored so quickly, even with Internet access. Fortunately the only times I've had to stay in hospital it's been through head injuries and I've been pretty much non compos mentis for the duration.

I can't imagine how mind-numbing it must be to be stuck in a hospital bed for days...

Please pass my sympathies on to David and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hope he gets better soon. I had pneumonia about the same time last year: could hardly take five steps without becoming very short of breath. I kept thinking it was an unusually bad chest cold; in another day I'd start to get better. Eventually went to my doctor's office; he found my blood gas was under 75, and ended up in the hospital for the better part of a week.

Diva's was 8. Fingers crossed he should be OK to com home later today though; hopefully a night with oxygen therapy should have done the trick. They said his blood results and chest x-ray were clear; it was just the blood gas they were concerned about.
