After weeks at home, Saturday night arkady and I went to the Dev. I had two pints and no cloves and was only climbing the walls very slightly. I think my journal page needs a piece of Javascript akin to those appallingly self-righteous meters telling how the propagator has saved this much money since giving up smoking. Mine will tick off every luvverly fag I have missed the opportunity to savour. One per day Monday to Thursday, three to five each Friday to Sunday. That said, my breathing is good. Sigh.

Of course, my new camera was to hand — see photos. (No colour or brightness corrections, just scaling down.) This is a nice toy. The 3× zoom is particularly fun, as you can get scary detail without actually shoving the camera up the victim's nose, and its eye for colour balance is particularly nice. It's also even better at taking icons than the Casios were. The pretty blonde girlie is Amy, an American and a friend of mr_eleganza's. She is not only very pretty but very sweet, and I hope to meet her lots with my camera in tow.

narnee came to dinner last night, and it was lovely to see her. She appears to be settling into London nicely. Arkady delighted in making a roast dinner.

Today I went for a job interview and a pimp interview. Fear me, I am MAN Man. The exercise didn't do in my lungs either. The wifi card arrived from _nicolai_ and is being gainfully employed in Arkady's laptop, meaning I get my Netcomm card back and the Mac gets its cable back. Tomorrow I (hopefully) finally get to Morden to fetch my stuff from the old contract and go to Chingford to buy a new mattress, as the old one is sufficiently clapped out to be poking redcountess with springs.

Pretty, but honestly, I think your girlfriend is prettier, so I don't think you're 'missing out' on anything there, dude, really I don't. I mean...the hair is _so_ cute! And such lovely, big, kitty eyes!

Incidentally, I've been meaning to ask, but is she she same Arkady who did the "Misery" doll whose pics are (were?) up on the strip "Broken Glass"? Quite pretty, if so, and that's coming from someone with a slight doll phobia.

I hope to be able to make it to the Dev when I'm in London in June (yes, I'm definitely planning on seeing you lot *grin*) . . . don't know how it'll work out since Kira will be with me, but perhaps she can spend an evening with my parents (they're coming on the trip as well) so that I can come out and *pint* you. Even if I don't make it to the Dev, though, there will be A Dinner With All Of Yez ^-^

My time is going to be pretty circumscribed because I'm traveling with Kira and my parents, so I can't (unfortunately) take off and spend the whole trip visiting friends . . . but I'm planning on having a little dinner party on Monday the 26th of June . . . then Kira and I are getting on a train to Manchester and going up there 'til Thursday evening.

You'd be more than welcome to come to the dinner if it works with your schedule -- we could celebrate just *one* day late ^-^

You have a bad case of red eye - you hopefully will have a flash setting which should deal with that. Try fiddling with the options.

It's got a red eye reduction setting that works quite well -- it's a beam thingy rather than one of those annoying multiple flashy things. Well, it is on mine. I have an Ixus 55, the next model up.

It's pretty clear I'll have to give its red eye correction a workout too. I put those up red eye and all because I was so impressed with how the came out fresh out of the camera, but I'll put up versions with hand-corrected red eye shortly. (I've had to get reasonably good at hand correction of red eye.)

Red-eye corrected by hand. Just the most egregious ones. Oddly, red eye doesn't seem to be much of a problem on 3times; zoom.
