It's been all go this weekend and no mistake. We had a nice time down the Dev yesterday, modulo getting smoked like kippers. [livejournal.com profile] redcountess came on out and we met up with [livejournal.com profile] digitalangel and [livejournal.com profile] bloomoo, Geraldine, [livejournal.com profile] mr_eleganza and [livejournal.com profile] silkyraven, whose table we adopted and who we introduced ourselves to after only half an hour. I got a pile of photos and the subjects might even approve some of them. Dinner at Super Bowl Noodle Bar afterwards, and my mouth is watering just remembering the beef teriyaki.

[livejournal.com profile] arkady and I went down to Homebase for storage this afternoon. We got back, she started on tidying her room, started disassembling the drawers and banged her elbow, really hard. Chipping the bone. She refused to spend five hours in A&E (bank holidays are really special), but swears she'll go tomorrow if it's looking bad enough. We also empirically disproved a famous polyamorous saying: when there's not enough ice and they're handily there in the freezer, Rose really does like peas. I am hideously tired owing to fractured sleep, so nothing is likely to get done today and it's pizza for dinner. Arkady is codeined to the gills. Zzzzzzz.

Key symptoms include being able to move the piece around (throwing up/passing out is optional) amazing bruises down your arm and practically achieving orbit if you knock it on anything or try to lean on it even years afterwards. Also pins and needles in your fingers...

Been there, done that...

Yup, describes it to a "t" apart from the bruising - which really surprises me. Definitely got the pins and needles though, and my fingers are swollen. Whipps Cross for me tomorrow!

Can you chip a bone? I was under the impression that it fractured, not chipped.
If the elbow was hurt it's often the ulnar nerve that causes pain.
Walk in clinics are your friend. If you have nothing to do during the day then you can escape the usual crush of people by just going at around 9 - 10 am. Last time I had to go I only really waited about 45 minutes or so, and htey were really helpful.

Bones do chip - I've chipped a piece of bone off my heel once, and my brother chipped a piece off his kneecap that later had to be removed surgically.

I have all the symptoms [livejournal.com profile] yellowrocket describes above with the exception of the bruising - that maybe because I applied ice pretty much immediately though.

Anyway, I'm intending to go to the walk-in clinic at Whipps Cross tomorrow; they can refer me immediately for an x-ray if they think it's necessary.

If the bone has been fractured then getting to an A&E is probably a good idea.

Your family sounds very accident-prone.
