reddragdiva.co.uk is now on the non-deprecated server. (Wait a day if it doesn't work for you.) It's an old version of the site and I've put a banner on it marking it as such; now I just need [livejournal.com profile] hawkeviper to return to earth and kick the old server so I can get a database dump off it.

I've decided continuous shooting without flash is this month's personal saviour. Here's an example:

Model: the appallingly photogenic [livejournal.com profile] bluehelen.
Pics straight out of camera, only shrunk for the web.

Flash off, highest ISO you have to hand, lightbulb white balance, ask subject to pose, hold down shutter. Some shots will blur, some in different places to others. Your subject's face and body will move subtly. I wouldn't use all of those eight shots, but I'll probably consider two or three highly suitable. And, of course, you can do things like this:

The Ixus have had this since the first one; Nikon Coolpix have it on at least recent models. Check if your camera does, then give it a try. This is the sort of useful little trick I really want for the photo guide.

I'm getting to like my Ixus 50 more the more I use and learn it.

What's the effect when you slow down Blue Helen's movements?

I have a silly film camera which takes 4 horizontal shots (with time delay) on one 35mm frame. It's only suitable for good light conditions alas.

I bought mine off ebay - they really are very silly..

Holga? (I have one of those too but never use it as it takes medium format film)

I love the way I hadn't even noticed the people in the background until you animated it!
