My free-for-postage-and-VAT (about six quid total) promotional samples from VistaPrint just arrived. You are all so my intended victims:

Blank for scribbling on. I'll probably get a photo on the next one. Getting the site back up properly is probably an idea too.

[livejournal.com profile] arkady also got a dolly violin and viola:

These doll nuts may be nuts, but their dolls are very musical.

I suppose we should get up and go to the albatross to pack boxes. Helpers most welcomed, please call.

They don't look that much smaller than the one I first learnt on (http://pics.livejournal.com/ant_girl/pic/0000404z/)! ;-)

I am seriously considering getting a 1/4 size violin for my largest doll (who is 70cm tall). Not that I can actually play violin myself. I have a full-size antique violin I'm trying to sell, because I've had it three years and still not gotten any further with learning to play it! I just like having functional miniatures. :-)

They are just so cute!

I'm sure I saw a thing on a bad tv show recently about how the most detailed of the Victorian dollies were made to be perfect little replicas of the children they were made for... Is this why you mention not playing yourself?

Kira says that if we could find an in-scale double bass, she wants it for our dolls . . . she went from 3/4 to full-size bass in this past year.

Love the cards and the staaaaaamp . . . and happy-Arkady picture, bonus!

Nope. My dolls are most certainly not based on myself - or not physically, anyway. They are Asian Ball-Jointed Dolls, hand-cast in resin and strung with elastic. They are the resin embodiment of certain characters of mine, and I use them as models in photostories. If you take a look at my website (http://www.arkady.org.uk), you will see these are very different to Victorian memorial dolls.

Oh, this is such a tease! I *love* photostories, but we've gone over our download limit for this month, so I'm throttled down to dialup speeds until next week.

*bangs head against wall*
