Freak like me.
Jun. 19th, 2006 06:44 pmI have found a new joy in life:
cranky_editors.
Friday we moved an albatross-load of stuff from
arkady's flat to storage. We used Deed Removals in Walthamstow, (020) 8524 2235, who were great and we'll be using them next time. £170 for an awkward flatload of stuff moved cluefully and competently.
We have given up on Freecycle in favour of Chavcycle: put any useless bit of tat outside and it'll be gone in an hour. This worked on a dead printer/scanner, a cordless phone, a 56k modem (which I later saw down the street outside someone else's house) and a suitcase with a broken wheel. We'll see how it goes on a kitchen bin, a wastepaper basket and a washtub.
That evening I went to Streatham in honour of
narnee's birthday (which is actually today). A lovely evening and morning eating pizza and talking rubbish. I had no present but offered my worship:
What would Eris do? Squeal "OH MY GAAAHHHDDD!" at 110dB. Then make ice lollies.
I was shocked to discover the Sugababes' Angels With Dirty Faces isn't half bad (and
kimkali does much better lyrics to "Round Round"). I caught the first train home and was sweating walking up the street at 7am.
Saturday was a quiet night in as
redcountess was unwell. But in the afternoon, Arkady and I fetched a cat trap cage. There's been a stray hanging around her house for the past two years, which seems to have been fed largely by
tom_pusscat and what he's caught (hence we referred to it as "Tom's girlfriend"; and since she moved in here, Arkady's noticed the stray getting thinner and thinner. She left food out for it, thus taking responsibility for it, so we thought we'd better retrieve it from the flat. Trap left out with food in. Arkady checked in the evening and the cat had managed to get the food without triggering the trap ... she set it to be more sensitive.
Sunday morning Arkady popped round to the flat and discovered a stray cat in the cage, which she brought home. She now has a small grey familiar. We retrieved the last of her stuff from the old flat on Sunday evening. I must call the landlord to sort out the final cleaning and gardening bills (to be deducted from the bond by arrangement). DING DONG, THE ALBATROSS IS DEAD!
Today we took "Tom's girlfriend" to the vet. It's a boy. No microchip, so he's ours for now; Arkady has christened him Kynaston. He appears to be a Burmese-moggy cross. The others are cautious around him but we haven't had cat pee wars yet. Cross fingers.

In fairness,
(Oh my god, I look seriously munted in the first picture. And quite possibly the third picture.)
and
Funnily enough, we *all* heard that song incorrectly...
Thanks so much for coming to my party!
