Update: Just over thirty seconds from my camera here (6849KB, VideoCD-compatible MPEG1). Shitawful sound quality (camera mic), but evidence!

Hmmmmm. He did it in Manchester...and announced it a faux Manc accent which came across as if he were taking the piss, which he had to explain he wasn't after the boos. Then proceeded to dance like Ian Curtis.

Cracking version delivered with the panache of a waiter dumping a fine meal into your lap.

It probably helped that he talked really fast and the sound was such that you couldn't understand a word. The dancing was an obvious tribute, but he had Pete Murphy's coordination, which helped a lot. The video (now linked above) shows it. It didn't strike me as ill-advised, more part of doing the cover ;-)

I heard the Accelerated Men do one of their famous combo-pieces in band practise once.

Joy Divisions "Transmission" and Hawkwind's "Spirit of the Age".

It worked, but was sadly never performed.
