reddragdiva: (domesticity)

I haven't worked out why it gets so hot, but ktemperature is just the thing to keep an eye on my CPU temperature so the laptop doesn't switch itself off. I am also considering an upgrade to Edgy for added l33tcandy value, but would prefer someone else (not me) shows my weirdarse wifi will in fact work as yet.

Domestic life is really quite lovely at present, modulo house hunting. We have a tentative verbal arrangement to take an extra week or two here if we need it, and there should be more stuff for the girls to look at soon. [livejournal.com profile] arkady went to Camden and got Whitby tix for [livejournal.com profile] redcountess, [livejournal.com profile] txxxpxx and Mr Pop and myself. SO BLOODY MUCH NEEDED HOLIDAY. I should even have my licence back by then. And this evening I grabbed [livejournal.com profile] drpete and [livejournal.com profile] mmcpoland's old hifi cassette deck, all ready for me to have something to plug it into.

I will be at B-Movie Friday because I will explode from stircrazy otherwise. I plan to go straight from work, so expect to see me there from doors opening until just after midnight. SHOW UP EARLY so I can see you.

Do you leave it plugged in all the time?

I have a very good notebook cooler, its called NotePal from Cooler Master, all aluminium with 2 fans.

Ah, I hate it when programs and stuff like that starts messing too much in the system

Actually, no I don't! I think it's just an old battery (a few years old) getting clapped out.

Hah, now if it was a PowerBook, you'd be wasting £55 every three months replacing the shite PSU that comes with it. My two year old battery still holds about three hours of charge - assuming I'm able to charge it in the first place.

Somewhat scarily, the recommendation appears to be to buy a clone PSU from Craplins for about £20, which is allegedly better than the Apple one.

Oh and let me know how edgy goes. I don't have the bandwidth to try it yet. I'll probably upgrade with RC1 or actually on release. My wireless support should be better as I bug reported the ancientness of the driver in dapper and it's now listed as "fix committed" (although I've no idea if it's actually in there..)
