On a plain.

[livejournal.com profile] bmovie was very nice, thank you. I got there at 7:30pm and [livejournal.com profile] bluehelen kindly let me in to change out of my work clothes in the little boys' room. [livejournal.com profile] arkady got there at eight. We left about half past eleven, both utterly buggered; I think my brane was still work-fried and I remained incapable of conversation beyond the "buh. Day at work. Kill job. Gruh. Fancy you heaps. Fabulous breasts darling." level.

I communicated mostly via camera, getting about 1.2 gigabytes of shots. Nice photonerding with [livejournal.com profile] wechsler, who is having trouble getting his l33t EOS 350D to give as nice clubbing shots as an Ixus. I say what? He got what I expect will be nice shots of Arkady and I. I'm getting thinner — waist clincher up to sixth hole out of seven — but the exercise means I'm not scrawny with it. Which is nice.

I was particularly pleased to see [livejournal.com profile] spikeylady (who looked SO GORGEOUS), [livejournal.com profile] jozafeen (who really must write some of those tales up for anonymous publication), [livejournal.com profile] eyeliner297 (who was going for it with her own Ixus of Doom), [livejournal.com profile] _proserpina_ and [livejournal.com profile] littlelightbulb, [livejournal.com profile] webcowgirl (present in body, brain probably still on a plane above the Atlantic) and [livejournal.com profile] secretlondon (who arrived literally as I was leaving, dammit!). And I failed to recognise Pepsi in her blue makeup. How embarrassing. But I LOVES YOU ALL. Pics up this weekend I hope, though the web server is still in flux so expect hiccups later.

I got my driver's licence in the post this morning. FEAR ME. Today we have two house appointments.

I've not tried club situations but my 350D does a good job in limited light with 50mm and 85mm f/1.8 lenses. The original kit lens and the 17-85 zoom just do not compare.

When things get really dim you can deliberately underexpose, compensate in software, and still get results at least good enough for the web. Each stop you steal this way halves the information the camera gives you to play with, due to the linear response of the sensor.

Canon offer a further stop's worth with the f/1.2 lenses at the same focal lengths but they cost the earth.

I manage to get some good hack shots on a 300D at Batfink I even get the odd "good" shot of the posed Gothics.

Fab to see you mister and good news about the hunt for a new home - looks like the early departure from clubbing paid off!

Completely unrelated to the post but I've just been reading about proposed closures for The Dev (admittedly they're a couple of months old). Any idea what's happening/happened?
