A moderately productive day today. [personal profile] arkady and I got up at the crack of arse to get the house into tolerable condition for the health visitor, who was most impressed with Freda's health, bouncy playfulness and general 'l33tn3ss. Popped out to Homebase and the shops. Played with the Creative Zen — pity it can't be Rockboxed. Slept.

The toilet saga continues. Here's a photo. The pipe from cistern to bowl kept coming out, so we bought a flexible one at Homebase today. Which doesn't flush as fast and drips at the top, but appears to be the right sort of thing. The drip at the back of the dishwasher is mostly fixed, we'll replace the tap (which the plumber fixed the leak from by making it not a tap any more, i.e. it doesn't turn off) and apply some more plumber's tape tomorrow. Then we can seriously dry stuff and try to work out where the water was actually coming from, which we need to do before it can be fixed properly and not in a way that'll require another fix next year. Fun fun fun! We'll probably also get some breeze blocks to prop the bowl up on, which would certainly be less worse than the present tottering stack of rotting plywood

The Paris Hilton article was spot on... But of course, we choose our own sources of information. Depressing? Not really. The people who find it important will gravitate in that direction and proud culture snobs can ask "Paris who?"

As for that toilet. Jebus...

I cannot imagine relaxing enough to actually use that toilet while sitting on it. And I've lived places where the water would just randomly go out....
