The interview itself made the job I don't want seem much more tempting - there's all sorts of interesting things to be done, and even small amounts of money to do them with. But I fear I will indeed be saying no. Particularly as I now officially have that second interview for the job I do want. Tuesday, 9:30am. Go me!

The Turf is a damn fine pub indeed. Met Simon for a couple of beers around three, then [livejournal.com profile] diffrentcolours and [livejournal.com profile] sushidog around 5:30.

Interestingly enough, a friend of [livejournal.com profile] diffrentcolours' was there who works at the place I had just been interviewed at. He was quite dismayed that the pay they're offering for the job of being the Unix admin is the same £18k he gets as a beginning tech support operator. I'm sure he's looking forward to working with the calibre of Unix admin they'll get for that pay in Oxford, not to mention the lack of prospect of any pay raise ever.

(Well, okay: if not for the close prospect of the much better job, that Unix admin probably would have been me. Until I went stir-crazy on the cheap in very short order.)

By crikey, a pub with lots of student girlies on a hot summer's Friday afternoon is pleasing to the eye.
