My Whitby Report:
Liz and I both got sick and spent most of it in the cottage in bed feeling awful.
We did try to go to the Spa on Friday to see the Damned. Unfortunately, the Spa had been oversold by about two hundred tickets. (Again. They claim it was forgeries rather than overselling; they can prove it to Trading Standards if they don't want to send me a non-bouncing cheque post-haste. Vouchers will not be accepted.) So we joined the long, long list of names demanding refunds. I shall be writing a letter directly tomorrow or Friday as well.
Bah!
txxxpxx and Mr Pop got in on Friday, which is just as well having come from Australia to see the Damned. Tony has more of an Australian accent now than I do, and he's English. Liz used the last of her energy going to the eighties night on Sunday and had a fantastic time. She said she felt like she'd woken up after three years.

Date: 2006-11-02 07:55 am (UTC)There seems to be quite a few people who have the view that WGW is run as a favour to the goth community and not as a business. The more extreme viewpoint seems to be that any complaining is being ungrateful and any attempt to involve any professional body to sort out problems is just being nasty.

Date: 2006-11-03 08:25 am (UTC)My big Batfinks are run on only 200 less capacity than Whitby and it just seems sensible for us to pay 1p a ticket extra to have secure ones printed up and register batches of tickets to resellers by number so we can track exactly what goes where.
I tried to book a traders stall for the WGW just gone and that's such a whole new world of uselessness, it seemed too much of a financial risk.

Date: 2006-11-04 04:53 pm (UTC)I just love this thread: http://wgw.topmum.co.uk/forum/topic.php?id=3492
Not only is it bad to involve a professional body, it's bad to attempt to justify yourself when you've been getting flak for it. Apparently posting on LJ is "bizarre", "undermines their case", and makes you a troll, but it's okay for her to go posting about it on the WGW forums.
The LJ thread is bad "speculation and gossip" - but what on earth is the WGW thread started up in response, if not bitchy gossip?
