The hospital called [livejournal.com profile] arkady today with a spare slot for a scan, so she went in. We've verified the baby will in fact be Freda Elizabeth Ivy:

She's now at 21 weeks 4 days, which is increasingly obvious:

Me, smug? WHY YES. YES INDEED.

I have a friend who called her baby Ivy last year. I think it is the CUTEST NAME EVER!

Hmm, so did a friend of mine. Sounds like the name's officially overplayed.

Seb and I have a name for either sex, which we also decided we didn't want to know until the birth. But I'll keep it quiet just a little longer. That's a lovely name. Freda isn't heard of much anymore but is lovely, and the entire name as a whole is very beautiful, lovely choices, guys.

I don't care if it's considered "overplayed" - it's my way of keeping a promise to a woman who was more of a mother to me than my own ever will be.

Thank you. :-) "Freda" and "Ivy" were chosen to keep promises to two people very dear to me who are sadly no longer living.

Funnily enough, we'd actually found it harder to think of and agree upon boys' names; I'd had the feeling all along that I was carrying another girl. :-)

We haven't got middle names yet, but I am unsure of what would go with our choice anyway. There is a family tradition on Seb's side of giving the firstborn male the middle name 'Llewellyn' - I like it, but what about a girl...

Is it from 3 months that you tend to show?

Really depends on whether it's your first child or not. I didn't show at all with my first until right before birth (I was running around playing Quasar in a black velvet catsuit at 7 months....), and with my second my neighbours only knew I'd been expecting when I came home with the baby after Christmas! With little Freda on the other hand I've been showing since about 10 weeks! So it really does vary from pregnancy to pregnancy.

Wow. To not be noticed until the birth must be strange. You're not exactly huge, so where the baby hid, I can't think. I have noticed my clothes getting a bit uncomfortable, underwear is out of the question at the moment as it makes me feel sick, so there is a little chge in me. But not a noticeable one for others.

Awesome, I'm so pleased for you guys :) Freda was the name I chose originally for my girl kitty, but after using it for a few days, it just didn't seem to suit her so she became Calliope instead. Yay for artistic/literary baby names!
