[livejournal.com profile] redcountess has arrived safely in Melbourne. She has arranged a month's dialup, but is offline until she can get a UK-Australian adapter for her laptop's charger. She blows kisses to you all.

For my own memory: Sunday 11th February I did the quintessential Dad Job of smashing a smoke alarm into little pieces with a hammer at 4:30am to shut it the hell up. No pictures, sorry.

It's quiet and cosy here with [livejournal.com profile] arkady, though I'm missing Liz lots. This evening I shifted a Metric Shitload of boxes around, clearing the front room to move Arkady's entire flat and my entire record collection in Friday or Saturday. I am buggerated.

To-do list:

  • Finish clearing front room.
  • Build shelves in front room.
  • Build shelves in dining room.
  • Get stuff shifted from storage locker, thus filling front room.
  • Cancel storage locker.
  • Assemble Ikea wardrobe for front bedroom.
  • Sort out front bedroom.
  • Clean floor of cupboard under stairs so stuff can be shoved into it.
  • Build Arkady's bed and organise room workably, with wardrobes and shelving galore.
  • Die of exhaustion.
  • Repeat the process when Liz's stuff arrives from Australia.

I'm on call until 5pm Sunday, at which point I may have a visceral need for ale and whoring before work on Monday. Suggestions?

Yes indeed; I'm sure we can help with the ale, but the whoring isn't on our standard menu...

Mazer is absolutely right about 'Word' being one of the most aggravating pieces of software ever. Only overtaken by Access, Excel and Powerpoint *stab*.

I'm glad that Liz is safely arrived in Melbourne! Kisses in return!!

Good luck with the move-in, I'm glad that the worst of it is over.

**hugs**

Most people just take the batteries out of a smoke alarm when it plays up.
O' course April 1 is the day one is supposed to change 'em.

Don't forget you've got to buy a new, sane one and install it somewhere sensible!

If it's any consolation, it will probably be a while before I get my stuff sent over, or do you want me to organise that before I leave here?

Completely sealed?
I guess they just want to protect you from the radiation inside the smoke alarm. You should be thanking them for waking you up.
And what if a fire had broken out when the smoke alarm was flat, huh?
