Day 3. Still no baby. Ate the last of the midwives. Despite [livejournal.com profile] arkady's ridiculously high pain threshold, we can see progress in that she is showing signs of mild discomfort.

My birth mother, Helen, phoned, and she and Arkady spoke for the first time. They had a lovely chat and got along well, and Arkady wins at mother-in-law. Helen also just happens to be a retired nurse and midwife. I apparently took a couple of days as well.

We went down the high street today and didn't kill all the chavs. Saw a pair of dykealikes in suits and New Rocks this afternoon. Most cheering.

We are so tired. And bored.

You think you're all bored ... what about the rest of us out here in flist-land who keep refreshing your various LJs waiting for news of Frida's escape into the real world? We're all waiting too!

Yeah, we should ask red drag to shut up till Freda has arrived!

(Seriously, all three, good luck, and let's hope it's over by the time yoiu read this.)

I hope to hear tomorrow that mother and child are finally topologically distinct.

See, we were all prepared for drama and fainting (on your part, of course!) and so on, all blogged live for our amusement... you're disappointing your audience :)

Someday you will be able to tell her "your mother was in labour for {number of days} with you!" and then be able to show her the LJ posts to prove it.

(Apparently *I* nearly arrived in the elevator on the way into the delivery room. And there was a thunderstorm raging outside.)

[go, Freda, go!]

Can't you just reach in and yank her out? I'm told that's basically what they had to do with me, as I was about a month overdue at the point.

I'm quite happy to let her take her own time; if she's not ready yet, then I'm certainly not going to let anyone "yank her out". That would kind of defeat the whole point of a natural home birth.

Things are progressing; they're just doing it very, very slowly.

Gosh, we've been away for a couple of days & as we were driving home I thought of you & that surely you must be a Daddy by now. She sure ain't in no rush to come out here to this world. Good on her for taking her own time. I'm hoping that it means she'll be doing stuff on her own terms for the rest of her life, which can only be a good thing....even if somewhat frustrating for parenting & birthing purposes.

Good luck with it.

*hugs*

If the little one is anything like the two big ones that made her, this is simply the begining of a whole lot of her doing things on her own terms.

great to chat yesterday, am wondering if baby Freda has moved her back frontwards at all, if not she may go for the long slow backwards rotation just to stay in her cozy corner for a while longer! So maybe hang forward or heave-ho onto the right side to give some encouragement to go frontwards instead of backwards? (check with your local delivery authorities 1st) Am sending continuous positive thoughts as requested. H

Oops, I think I must have been a bit unclear on the phone - she's LOA, so back is nicely frontwards already! Though she did take a fair amount of persuading at first, but now is quite happy there as it means she can happily kick my ribs on my right-hand side. :-)

Mostly I'm trying to persuade her to get her head down properly; squats and lots of walking seem to be doing the trick though!
