If you want to buy a new compact digital camera and want something that does high ISO, most are selling snake oil. The Fuji F30/F31 is the only one that's any bloody good at all over ISO 400 — even beating the larger Canon S3 and G7. I don't plan to replace my Canon Ixus 50 (which doesn't pretend to go over ISO 400) any time soon, but oooh I'm tempted.

Pembury Tavern last night, with Freda, who slept most of the time and didn't appreciate the noise much. Nice to see people.

Miserable day today. I would like a sleep cycle, please.

I'm with you on the Fuji cameras. All my digitals have been Fuji, tho' I've been tempted to try other brands from time to time. Given that the next 12 months will likely see an upgrade to a DSLR and a sidewardsgrade to a new compavt, that review will likely influence the choice of the latter.

I've always liked the picture quality from Fuji, right back to my first 2300Z, but I have had a mixed bag of reliablity with them. Tho' come to think of it, the ones that have caused me grief have tended to be the secondhand ones off eBay, rather than the bought-from-new ones I've owned.

And Fran ([livejournal.com profile] indigo_violet, my g/f) just loves her Z3 as 1) it takes great twin shot photos (flash & no flash), which is great for pubs & clubs, and 2) its pink. I'm driving a S5600, which is a bit of a halfway house - too big to be a compact, so it gets used less; and a bit modest in ability for serious photography cf a DSLR.
